I have a Crybaby wah I've modified, but in doesn't work correctly.
The only mods I've done to it are:
- the Fat Wah mod, detailed here:
http://www.diyguitarist.com/DIYStompboxes/WahMod1.htm
- Added a Yoy-section, which includes an inductor, similar to the Schaller Bow-Wow Yoy pedal or whatever it's called :P
- True bypass

Now, the symptoms include the wah seemingly functioning, but in the heel position there is very little volume. Volume still exists.
I would say that it's turned into a volume pedal, but the signal still sounds like it's being wah-ed, just only a tiny bit. Nowhere as deep as it needs to be.
I thought maybe the 4.7uF cap went bad, so I replaced it. I'm 90% sure I wired the Fat Wah mod in correctly, as well.

Any ideas why? I'm about to try removing the Yoy section, and see how it fairs with just the Fat Wah, but when the Yoy is bypass, it doesn't seem to make a difference, so I don't know...

If anything, your Fat Wah mod should have too much gain. I've done this mod to my own wah pedal and it sounds great. Did it for a friend's wah pedal and it was too over the top for him, and I changed it back to stock.

I don't think it's gain, it's weird. There's a tiny bit of a wah effect, but it's really not that pronounced. Nowhere near as vocal as a normal wah.

I dunno. It seems that the results vary pretty widely for people with this particular mod.

Hmm...I'm going to reverse the whole thing, and start over.

Do you have any clips of your Fat Wah, by chance?
