anyone know of a diy way?
Yes, research it. Work 'em up. Race 'em.
Do it again after reading up at GEO, matching a few circuits, perhaps throwing a buffer between them, wahs and octaves sometimes get along great.
What do you want in your Octave sound ? [transformer ?
Wah type...any ideas or preferences here ?  [coil ?
Wait 'till others offer suggestions as to their octa-wah perferances or offer some of yours.
Inductor wah > Ultimate Octave [I guess, there's been a buncha FTM to UO threads recently], never tried 'em in that order, seems like it'd work, maybe buffer the wah, photocontrol it.
I just use CB and GR, so I'm no expert, the GR needs a Fuzz or something to go with it.
  Case...what case...how many bypasses ?
Convention creates following, following creates convention.
