PCB through hole plating >:(

Anybody else hate pcbs with though hole plating?  It makes removing components a total pain. Solder braids and suckers just don't always work very well.   
If a board isn't double sided what are the advantages?

Yeah, I mod pedals for people all the time, and that can often be a pain in the rear trying to get the solder out of the pads.  :icon_mad:

The advantage to a thru hole plating on a single sided board (if there is such a thing, I haven't actually seen one) is that it is much more durable. Many times when you desolder something from a single sided board where the copper is just a layer on top, the pad can come right off if you overheat it trying to desolder it. That is also a pain in the rear.  :icon_neutral:
