Hey all,

Off topic a bit but, I'm working on a small amp project. I'm using a heavy steel chassis and would like to add a nice etched face plate. I'm looking for a pre-cut piece of very thin metal that I could drill/etch and attach to the front of my project.

Any suggestions for source for this material and service? I say service as I need to have the piece cut. Thanks!

You can get pieces of thin aluminum at Home Depot or Lowes. It's EASY to cut with a hacksaw or whatever and it is EASY to sand the edges smooth, too. And aluminum is easy to etch.

Thanks Joe,

I actually tried to cut a piece not too long ago. At 12 inches, the has saw seems to find it's limitation at about 4 inches. Making matters worse, I had a horribly wobbly situation and in the end I really boogered the piece up. I've been thinking to give it another go but at the prices shown on the the website by tiges_tendres it's hard to argue with factory manufacturing if you know what I mean.

I do plan to etch a nice control panel however.

Thanks gentlemen.

They will cut the piece for you, but it will be a rough cut.  At least that's what my experience has been with them.
