I was just wondering how you guys who made wooden boxes for your stompboxes solved the issue of a battery compartment?

I'm interested in the same thing. There quite a few ways to do small boxes, but I'm not sure which route I want to go.

I just leave enough space between the side of the box and the stomp switch and the battery fits there nice and snug.  You can use some stick back foam insulation stuck to the side of the box if you want more room between the side and the switch but still want the battery there.

What would you do for a lid? I guess wood screws will wear out after some battery changes?

I know this isn't exactly the standard stompbox look (though neither is a wood box), but you could use a latch like this:

I've used replacement battery holders for CryBaby wah pedals before. Works if the material it is going into is thin enough.
