Hi Guys

I'm having a problem with a mates wah i'm trying to fix; it goes fine when off (clean sound) but i get nothing when
it's engaged.  without thinking i took the old transistors (5117's) out and can't remember the proper orientation for
the new ones, also i think the new ones (2N4401's) have a different C-B-E configuration anyway..I'm pretty confused.
Is there a way to determine which leg is which on the tranny (cue lude jokes) without having to go on the net and
try to find the datasheet for the 2N4401?

cheers
Phil

:) Enlightening  :) .  As it turns out, i can't find the datasheet for the 5117 transistor.  any ideas?

Bringing you yesterday's technology tomorrow.

A second check,
IIRC if you use your multimeter diode range the CB junction has a slightly lower voltage than the EB junction.

Not sure what board you have but the Emitter will go to the 470ohm resistor on one transistor and the 10k on the other - on one board that meant the emitters were towards the edges of the PCB and the collectors towards the inner (the transistors faced in opposite directions).

According to the water analogy of electricity, transistor leakage is caused by holes.

Thanks guys, what a big help that is!  Really appreciate that, i'll get back to you with what results i have, as a final
enthralling climax to my wah ordeal   ;D
