Hi everybody
my friend made an OD pedal and it sounds good however it hums like crazy( ok its not in a metal enclosure but Im gonna try shielding with foil) now Im gonna try changing the cable from the circuit input to the switch to a shielded cable. now when I connect the shielded cable do I have to connect the shielding(ie that metal mesh) to grounds or do I just connect the inner cable and leave the shielding connected to nothing??
thanks

You have to connect the "metal mesh" to a ground point, but only at one end, the other end end of the cable shield should be unconnected.

Also you should connect the shielding foil to ground at one point after you tried shielding.

It is something i wanna try with a Behringer pedal of mine, i gonna buy some shielding "sticker" next week.
