Here's one that's got me ripping my hair out! I have a signal thru entire circuit but with no distortion. Every pot seems to work properly, level gain etc I've checked every component looking for accidental grounding and checked continuity between components where there is supposed to be, everything looks right. Any help would be greatly appreciated! If anyone has their voltage readings to compare here's mine:

2n5088
C: 10.5 v
B: 1.017 v
E: .565 v

Lm386
1: 1.374v
2: 0v
3: .008v
4: 0v
5: 5.39v
6: 10.5v
7: .7mv
8: 1.37v
I forgot what I was gonna say here.

check the input, make sure it isn't finding a path to the output. check the resistors at the first transistor, make sure they are the right color bands..4.7m is ...yellow purple green, if your using a switch, check that its oriented the right way and follow the input to output path..
also double check that pins 1 + 8 are connected, if they were open, you'd get much less gain...
-you can also search for 'audio probe' -simple device to listen to different parts of a circuit and find out where the signal is and isn't...
