I use a lot of NOS and salvaged parts for my builds.
Some time its hard to solder those parts (dirty leads, oxidation, etc) solder won't stick!
I there a trick (aka: easy way) of cleaning those leads other then sanding?
A paste or something? I tried the flux I use when doing plumbing but it's not working.

Any tips would be appreciated.

Thanks

Never use plumbing flux for electronics, this stuff is corrosive and will damage your components. If you must use a separate flux, buy one specifically made for electronic work. I tend to clean oxidized parts with denatured alcohol and either 3M Scotch Brite Pads, steel wool, or fine sandpaper depending on the amount of oxidation. Also, what type of soldering iron are you using? A beefier iron may help soldering to switches and pots.

A razor knife works fine.
Just scrape around the area where the lead will be soldered.
