So i replaced all the SMT transistors in my behringer muff clone with MPSA18 full size transistors. Ive double checked my soldering and connections and everything looks good. Im getting next to no output now. any ideas? ???

Check the Pinout?

Also there's some SMD diodes that look exactly like SMD transistors.... have you replaced the right parts?

Im 98% sure theyre the right parts. I also soldered the transistor directly to the adjacent parts according to a muff schematic. I also reverse engineered the thing before i started the mods and figured out the pinout.

i also popped one of the MPSA18s i had into a brian may treble booster i built and got next to no output. shouldnt any NPN transistor do the job?

what is the correct pin out for an MPSA18 in relation to a schematic?

Easy way to figure this out is to put your smd parts back in and see if it works.

Try a little tenderness.

MPSA18 pinout is

C
B
E

IIRC, get the datasheet to be sure as if I'm wrong its likely

E
B
C

yeah i kinda destroyed the SMD parts getting them off the board  :P

The way I installed the MPSA18s in both pedals were if you were to hold the transistor with the flat side facing to the right, the furthest leg would connected to the power source (essentially) and be the output for the signal. the middle leg is the signal input and the leg closest would go through a biasing resistor (i think thats what its for) and then to ground. so collector base emitter??
