A good friend of mine who worked for a time in an academic physics lab gave me a large bin of paper-in-oil capacitors to sell for him, when I noted they were probably worth something to somebody (though not me particularly).  He mentioned its likely they've been sitting around since the 1950s or 60s.  I saw some familiar bits, like Sprague Vitamin Q's and Goodall caps in values useful for audio, but there are a large number of caps similar to the ones pictured below that I've never seen before.

The ones with the yellow bodies say "John E. Fast," the metal encased ones have "Component Research" printed on them.  A distinguishing feature is that they all appear to have gold(?) leads.  Is anyone familiar with these manufacturers?  Any guesses on how old these caps are?  Are the leads actually gold?

They might be one-off capacitors? That would make sense of the name stamp and the "component research" label.

I just found some pics/references to John E. Fast and Component Research Co. capacitors on ebay and some audiophile related sites, but nothing that seems to look like these.   Weird.
