Anybody ever repair one of these? I know they tend to be problematic, cold solder joints, dead IC's etc. The ring modulator portion of mine just gave in. The LED comes on but no sound. The wah part still works fine. I'm wondering if the MAX1044 charge pump is not working properly? Is the purpose of this IC to supply -9v? Vout is at 7.5v, and so is ground ???. Can anyone help me debug this thing?

Ah, sorry for the repost. I'd looked for something that might help me a few weeks ago and didn't find it, but forgot to start a topic. Should've checked again. I actually had the same experience as the guy who started that topic, was using batteries and it died, tried a regulated PS and it works  :icon_redface:

Joe, do you think you or kenny could go over what he did with your unit to get it reliable and in top condition? That could be a huge help to the people who have these things..

i got ahold of kenny. he said that replacing the 1044 is usually the fix for the non-functioning ring mod. he said he is too busy running his music store, doing repairs, gigging etc to spend much time on the boards here, but he said any of you guys can email him at kenny 'at' kennysegall.com, he will help with fixes.

he ok'd me posting wiring pics of my working unit so people can see how things should be hooked up as well. will try to get those up in the next few days.

Right on! I'd really like to see the schematic for this.

I own one. I opened it up a few years ago and took a bunch of pictures. I wanted to trace it. But at the time it was over my head. It's pretty complex. With the charge pump wah and ring mod. Then there's the two switches six pots and the multi-pole switch!
