I'm making a rangemaster with http://www.aronnelson.com/gallery/main.php/v/album26/Rangemaster.gif.html

I bought a CV7003 transistor off of ebay and I have no idea which wire is which. They are green, white and purple. The casing is covered with a rubber tubing, so I can't be sure if this means anything, but there's a tiny black mark above the green wire which might mean that this is the collector.

I have no testing equipment with me as I'm at uni. Only a Rangemaster with a hungry socket.

Please, dear god, help me.

Sounds like the leads just have insulation on them. This will help to keep them from shorting if they touch. Is there a little tab on the case? That would be the emmitter, the middle base and next lead is the collector. Be sure to socket the transistor just in case.

I just got bored and tried the transistor in every possible direction. I know that this could have fried it but it didn't look like I'd be figuring out the correct pinout anytime soon anyway. It's now working and the pedal sounds very nice.

Thanks a lot,
Ell.
