Hello all!
After one year I finally had some time to dedicate to DIY, so I decided to finish my TS808, my second stompbox ever; me and a friend of mine who's expert in building spare parts for motorcycles in carbon fiber, had the idea to print a carbon fiber enclosure for the TS808. What do you think about it (yeah, I f*cked up the pot's position :p)?

Hell yaaahh (you stole my ideea (joke)) this is the next project for enclosure design. :D

F great.

PS: You could make a jet fighter as artwork :D

Thats slick man!  It looks like high-tech snakeskin.

I've thought about this too.  My local Tech Shop teaches classes in Carbon fibre and I thought about signing up.

What is the bottom of your enclosure?
Try a little tenderness.

Uhm... acually none :D

I'm still trying to imagine how to close it...

What you have to do is epoxy in some tabs that you can screw into. Make sure you sand the inside of the pedal to take all of the shine off, that will give you better adhesion. It looks like the pedal was made of wet lay up and not prepreg, so just ask the guy what type of epoxy he used and use that to epoxy in the tabs. The tabs can be made out of metal just make sure you prep and clean them really good before you epoxy them in place......  Good luck... I've been thinking about making a carbon fiber pedal box of my own, but when you work with carbon all day long that's the last thing you want to see on your day off !!!!!  Though it gives me all kinds of options if I want to.

Here's what I know about it.
They make guitar/boat paddles out of the stuff.
It is lightweight, strong weight/strength ratio.
Looks thick enough to hold up, thin enough for standard panel mounting.
Loose fibers are hazmat, small CF work like this can be done right in the trash bag.
Not shielded that I know of.
Looks like a flat substrate where it needs to be, therefore, probably makes a trustworthy thread-wedge surface.
CF is a bit like wood in that it can always be worked with, except it doesn't split, rot or warp.
If I was picking a material for a snap-in bottom plate design, he properties of CF would make it a first choice.
Haven't seen the motif' in a stompbox yet.
I choose to not work with it [maybe some drilling] at this time, to allow those who are better prepared for this work to do it for me [or not].
The snakeskin pattern resembles a life-like surface, perhaps different color reflections can be made to occur using the surface pattern as a base, try rubbing it against a bar of gold :icon_mrgreen:, then clear coated.
It looks cool the way it is, I think a filtered frequency 'bouncy' surface returning more light'd be cool anyway, did I see something like that at the car show?

Convention creates following, following creates convention.

Thanks everyone, especially to dedguy for the hints!
