Hello, just wondering what your favorit kind of capacitors you are using for tone control/tonestacks?
I found a old 47pF styroflex cap i installed in my strat and sounds amazing!
But i'm going to try the Braxendall Tonestack and i wan't the best out of it so what kind would you recomend (material wise)?
Oh and is the MojoTone's that good ?

For the amount of insertion loss, the Baxandall isn't the best for guitar uses due to its range (non-guitar)...it's mainly a hi-fi tone stack.  But it works.  Use Duncan's Tone Stack to check out the different stacks - I like Marshall, and Fender/Vox is very similar.

It may be sacreligious to say so, but I like ceramic for the pF values, and and poly type for the other, larger values.  Mojo are good, but not god....Just my humble opinion, though! lol, probably start a riot now....

Thanks! And it aint going to be the exact Baxendall i'm making some changes to make it more "guitar friendly"!
And it's just for the fun of it! Have you tried fitting a tonestack in your guitar ? Any suggestion for a cool one ?

I haven't tried mounting it on the guitar, no!  Enough stuff there already, and I don't even use the tone knob as it is!

You'll want to create a board for this, if that's the case....you'll need to buffer the input to the tone section, and then boost the output a little.  Tone stacks eat signal ("insertion loss"), which is why the standard one is just 1 cap and 1 pot - low insertion loss. Buffer so you don't load your pickups, booster to regain the level of signal before the amp...easier to do this in a pedal, tho.....
It could be fun, yes! :o)

If I was gonna do one, I might try monkeying around with different values for a Big Muff tone control...1 knob, but lots of functionality.  You can model it in the Tone Stack Calculator (free at duncanamps.com).   Let us know how it works out!
