Does anyone know what the tpical HFE Gain for a foxx Tone machine should be? NPN Silicone transistor. Right now Im using 5088's and it sounds thin but I need to install different diods . I am wondering if the 5088's are too high gain for it.

Has anyone ever measured a FTM transistor?  The datasheets show huge gain spreads, so it could really be about anything, based on those.  I was wondering if anyone's ever measured what was used or knew optimal.  I'll be breadboarding and was curious.  Thanks!

So I built one using 2n5088 transistors and Germainium diodes. I built the octave up square box version and it works great. Really works nice when its warm, sounds harsh when its cold. :D

Oh Yea the HFE on all 2N5088 Transistors I used was around 750
