Buzz box oscillation?

I completed a buzz box today (the home wrecker one), and it has this really irritating oscialltion when you're not playing a note. Has anyone encountered this? Found a solution? I'm still learning here and i'm not sure where to start debugging. Thanks!

Something's not right.  It should not oscillate.  Check battery, power/ground wiring, other wiring, normal debugging, etc.
