hi guys,

I searched and searched but had no luck in finding what kind of diodes has a forward voltage of 0.18v. The reason for my search is that i asked for 1n34s in our electronic store and purchased some. after sometime i went to a different store and asked for some 1n34s, i notices that it was different from the one i first purchased in the different store, i measured the forward voltages and found out that the first batch i bought has 0.18v forward voltage.  I am wondering now as to what kind of diodes are those (the one with 0.18v). thanks

Highly likely that they're germanium and will work fine in place of a 1N34.

In response to the questions in the forum - PCB Layout for Musical Effects is available from The Book Patch. Search "PCB Layout" and it ought to appear.

1N34 diodes come in more than one shape.  They don't all look the same.

Schottky diodes also tend to have low forward voltages - often lower than Germanium, afaik?
