I want experiment with a transformer based ring mod. How do you pick a transformer? I figure I will run it off 9v.

Looks like the Ring Stinger uses a 20K:1K. Does anyone know what's used in the Ringtone?

This shows the "simple ring modulator" circuit and quotes a Mouser part number for the transformer. Maybe try looking up the specs on that transformer?

I've used both the 42TL016 and 42TL218 with success

Thanks for the reply. Looks like these are all the usual suspects. I think I even have a few of these in the parts bin.

What's the difference between using a 10K:10K vs a 20K:1K? The Ring Stinger seems to break the rule of using a transformer with equal coils. Does this help get over the diode drop. Or does it make a difference with your input buffer?
