Lowering gain(distortion) of Tube Reamer

Built the Tube Reamer v.2 the other day and I like it alot, but I would like to be able to get a less distorted tone out of it. The Gospel According to Mark Hammer states I want to lower the amount of distortion rather than gain. Any mods I can do? Thanks in advance.

Although gain and distortion aren't necessarily related, the gain of the first stage here controls the distortion. So, increasing the 2.7k resistor would decrease the gain and the distortion. Doubling up the diodes would also reduce the distortion, this time without changing the gain of the stage.

If by "less distortion" you mean, "less clipping" than you could change the clipping diodes to something like LEDs, to get a crunchier tone, as opposed to fuzzy.  But when I want less distortion out of a TS type thing, I just turn the gain knob down.

Tried this and it worked. Thanks!
