Hey guys, i just rewired my 4x12 cab (loaded with 16ohm vintage 30's) to be switchable between 4/16 ohms.  i'm aware of the fact
that i can't get a totally accurate reading with my digital multi meter because the speakers measure in impedance; but i know i can get
a ballpark figure for both 4/16 ohms using resistance.  the problem is, i don't know at which points to test at.  i've tried diff points
and sometimes i get 3.6/13 ohms, sometimes 3.6/6.8 ohms.  do you guys know which points to measure at?

here is the diagram i'm working off:  http://www.colomar.com/Shavano/4x12wiring.html
and i'm using the 10th diagram down.

I would appreciate any help, thanks    :icon_mrgreen:

It would seem logical to measure at the socket that your speaker cable plugs into. This is the point at which your amp will connect to the cab, after all!

You'd think, ay!  but i tried that just now, got a reading of 1 Ohm.   :icon_confused:

Is it really loaded with Celestion Vintage 30's? The Spec Sheet says "Vintage 30MF". I'm thinking about buying one but would you have a photo of the "V30MF" speaker? (or is it just "Vintage 30"?)
Cheers

I'm pretty sure its a special V30 they made for the Mode 4 line.  I've been using the MF280 with my Peavey Triple XXX
and it sounds great!  Very big and heavy though, bigger than a regular 1960 Lead.  Check out the specs:

Hope that helps   :)

Sure does.  "Vintage 30MF" or similar, from memory.  And judging by your username, it'll suit your style quite well.    :)  :icon_twisted:
