Hey folks,

I'm just trying to figure out what I need and in what order to make an adapter box for my modtone powerplant that takes my pedal power's 9Vac 1000mA output and converts it to 12vdc 500mA. I'm trying to power a particular delay that keeps giving me trouble.

I'm assuming that since the power is already coming out of the powerplant at 9vac I don't need a transformer but I do need a rectifier and a smoothing cap.
Is that correct? What parts would you recommend to do this with?

  WW and regulator.
 Or
9V feeds Voltage Converter chip/circuit set to ~double the voltage [-2v for chip operation].
Puts you at around 16vdc, then use a 7812 regulator to 12v output.
The Echo may be like some echo's, peculiarly particular and finicky about exactly what is supplying to voltage.
Echo Park worked with battery but a 9.4vdc regulated output wouldn't light it for me for some reason.
Triple-double check the polarity and ripple free-ness before applying the power to the echo.
Convention creates following, following creates convention.

Go read "Power Supplies Basics" at GEOFEX, http://geofex.com/Article_Folders/Power-supplies/powersup.htm, and you'll find all you need.

In response to the questions in the forum - PCB Layout for Musical Effects is available from The Book Patch. Search "PCB Layout" and it ought to appear.
