           hi.... whats up!?

last night i"ve decided to build ruby, for me to use it for cozy bedtime practice and such, however,as always,i got stucked.

1.the first time i fired it up,there was loud, high pitched sound coming out of speaker...i use 2n5457 as the buffer and lm386 (not jrc thing) on it,and the gain pot dont do anything.
2.i removed the gain pot, letting it go on 20 times amplifications, the result is changed, but with uncontrollably static electricity sound,i dunno if it works or not coz maybe the sound      of the signal is overshadowed by it and it get worst when i put something between that pins (in order to get ability to control the gain)
3.working on the little gem the chip worked great,so clearly theres no problem with that.and also i use the same transistor on my rat (the rat board is socketed),and is also working,so both vital component function is verified.

i know that static could occur from poor wiring work or miserable soldering, but since i have experience with that f@(*!4 problems,i sanded the leads of all resistors and caps,i dunno...i followed the perfboard layout and rechecked it over and over with mine, and im sure theres no soldering shorts or such(its actually pretty simple though),all component also fresh from the store,so its cool.

any tips or suggestion?   please help.

    thanks.
