Indeed... one man's Telefunkin is another man's Funkin' Tele !
I tend to agree with him though. If anything is going to displace tubes from the throne, I am certain that it will be JFETs. Methinks that we are almost there. I am predicting that it will happen this year, early next year at the latest. I've seen and 'heard' things. The future is bright! (...and no, it's not a laser cannon firing at me...)

I read similar russian article a couple of years ago, and it contained stompbox schematics, based upon cascoded Jfets, but I must confess, such circuits are difficult to adjust. I tried to build a cascode-based overdrive and failed, 'cause of lack of patience. Each Jfet of cascode pair must be of certain parameters and the need to seek for appropriate Jfets kills any intention to build anything at all. Sorry for bad English.
