I am new to building fuzz boxes so bear with my ignorance. I have just put a POT on a colorsound Fuzz box as follows onto Phil Bryant's schematic:
Q1's Base and Q2's Emiiter connection connects onto Fuzz LUG 3 (instead of 1K resistor), then LUG 2 goes to 10UF/25V Cap's positive and LUG 1 goes to ground.
I am assuming I've done it right as it seems to be controlling the fuzz amount now. I am just wondering if the 1K resistors is replaced entirely by the Pot or should it sill be in the chain?

it replaces it...you're just mimicking the Fuzz Face fuzz control

edit:
but check your Q1 B connection:

always think outside the box

Just one more question now u have both those schematics up, how does that 220pf cap between Q1's B&C alter the sound?

The 220pF is to filter hiss from the transistor.   MC

a bc109? hiss? NEVER!

not so much as to tame the hiss, as to reduce the high frequency response of the first Q. amounts to about the same thing.
