Green Ringer acting as an expansor

Hi there,
I built a Green Ringer some time ago, but I've had some troubles with it: it acts as a expansor (makes loud sounds louder and soft sounds softer), which makes it awful: there's too much plucking and notes die just too soon. Can somebody give me some hint why could this be? By the way, I don't know if this is too much of a madness, but I put it in a Big Muff box (sharing space with a Big Muff, both working, sharing ground).

Mine acts the same way; I figured it was just something about the circuit...the note decay doesn't bug me near as much as the expanding! That thing can blast!
