I wanna take a good stab at Express PCB to start doing my own layouts as I like to have a few things available such as onboard pots when i'm building PCBs up and layouts that include them are not always available and I was wondering if someone could possibly send me an .PCB file with onboard pots so I could get to grips with the program and make sure I get the sizes for parts right etc. it'd certainly be a handy learning tool for me.

Cheers in Advance.

(P.S. Unless someone already has a EHX Bad Stone & Tri-Vibe layout with onboard pots already made  ;) )

I made this for the Futurlec 16mm Alphas. Extract it to My Documents\ExpressPCB\PCBComponents_Custom and then look for it in ExpressPCB's custom components section.

I've used it for several builds, but I'm not sure if it's what you're looking for. :)

Assuming the spacing is the same for the Right Angled/ Board Mounted Pots yeah that's pretty handy thanks, should make layouts go smoother  :)

It's sort of what I was looking for, I was looking for a complete layout someone wouldn't mind passing on just so I know what a good working layout should look like but that will help when the time comes to make the layouts so thanks for that again  :)

Hi, I use ExpressPCB/SCH and (besides to the pots you want) I have made some my own custom components and symbols too that I can share for anyone to use. I did small drill holes and larger pads on purpose to aid as a drill centerpunch and for easier soldering. I tend to use thicker 50mil traces too for simplier PCB circuits, but you can ungroup the component to redo the pads, then group and resave it again to your liking:

Check out my topic here. I posted a zip file that has my ExpressPCB files, pictures of the etched-and-unbuilt board, and pictures of the finished board. :)

Edit: There's also another one of my projects using the same pots over at the other forum, page 5 of the "Colorsound - Power Boost / Overdriver" topic.

Excellent Mike. A bit off topic but how did you get those little inline thumbnail images that link to the full size ones in your post. Also I like you included the waveforms too! I need to document like that. :)

Upload via ImageShack, and then use the code listed as "Forums" under "Thumbnail Size". Piece of cake.
