I believe RG is refering to the mojo factor here .... Basically the on-going arguement that replacing an electro, or other caps, with a poly metal film makes a tonal difference ... Some say yes, some say no, some tests try to prove no etc ... Check out the Mojo thread, it's a good read and will explain a lot.

My views: Swapping one electro for a poly cap probably won't make a diff sonically, maybe more so with an aged pedal as the electros have probably drifted in value ....

BUT ... I have changed the electros, and the tants to poly's and there's a definite difference, not night and day but surely audible as I have 2 TS9's to test with, one modded and one not ...They don't have to be Panasonics though but they are small and fit nicely ... That's why I use 'em. ;)

The thing I disliked most about my stock TS-9 was the annoying hiss with the gain up. The mod that took care of that was changing the input and output transistors to MPSA18's. The pinout of a MPSA18 (E-B-C) is different from Original 2SC1815 (E-C-B). With the flat side up, carefully bend the center and right side leads around each other to switch positions. Follow Bellyflop's recommendation to search for other mods. There are quite a few different opinions and mods available.
