RC741T in an old mixer

Are these metal can RC741T's the same as a lm741? I found this old mixer in a church closet and it has 6 of them in it along with some 2n3055's. I am wondering if I can put together a sweet dod250 with these.... ::)
When your life is over, will any of this STUFF really matter?

Component tolerances will have far more impact on how your DOD sounds than the putative differences between a metal can 741 and epoxy one.  If you are aimng for cosmetic authenticity, fine, but if you are simply aiming for sound, the metal/epoxy difference is immaterial.

thanks mark. i've built several 250's and haven't found one that i DON'T like really. I have a bunch of lm741 ic's and just thought it would be fun to build one up with these. i understand that the metal can ic's were the best in their day for the technology and that we have come a long ways since...they look cool though, right?  ;D

That they do.  I have a few myself, and they, and their CA3080 and CA3140 cousins, always look like the most important device on the board. :icon_wink:
