Approximating ONE setting on the ZVex Fuzz Factory

I have looked around the archives and haven't encountered earlier posts addressing my question, so here goes...

I own the ZVex FF and at one point, I am able to get a setting that has a little but of octave overtones...GATE at ~2:30; COMP at ~ 10:30; DRIVE at ~ 11; STAB at ~ 11:30.  The fuzz isn't too thick, and it doesn't sustain really well, but the octave overtone shines through and the tone is excellent.

My question -- what is happening inside this thing that is producing this sort of octave overtone?  I like it because it sounds like the overtone is emerging, organically, right out of the fuzztone, and I'd like to understand better why at this setting, the circuit produces this overtone.  I plan on making a more standard Fuzz Face circuit and though I won't be trying to get it to do all the amazing things my ZVex FF can do, I would like to be able to get it to dial in a similar octave overtone, and preferably with a bit more thickness/sustain...

I defer to your collective wisdom, oh gurus.
