Hey everybody,

I am just starting here so I have some novice questions.  I am building an Echobase but I would like to have 2 input jacks and toggle between them.  For instance, Input 'A' would be guitar and input 'B' would be a childrens toy piano.  What switch do I use?  How do I wire it? (what wires go to the switch and which goes to the board?)  I understand the most basic idea the input jacks go to the switch and then the switch goes to the board but I dont know exactly how to do it.  Any help would be great.

-Thanks

I hope this doesn't sound dismissive, because it is not intended to be.  The DIY FAQ that you'll see a link to above and to the left of this, is an excellent source of information on topics such as what you're asking.

Keep in mind, this forum has been around for well over a decade, and many thousands of members and guests pass through.  If you think that whatever questions you're asking yourself have not been asked before...think again.  :icon_wink:

Russ, look up true bypass.  Check out this link (http://www.beavisaudio.com/techpages/SchematicToReality/)  Scroll down to "The Stompbox Harness" and look at how the switch is wired.  If you can get your head around it, think of it as keyboard vs. guitar instead of guitar bypass and guitar through the effects.

I'm really novice, so there may be better advice, but that's one way that I see.

In response to the questions in the forum - PCB Layout for Musical Effects is available from The Book Patch. Search "PCB Layout" and it ought to appear.
