test equipment question - what is this?

Sorry for the off topic, but what is this piece of test equipment?

It's an old pocket voltmeter/ammeter, used to measure voltage and current.

I hooked it up to a 9 volt battery and it picked up the voltage.  The top pins with the screw also pick up.  It also picked up voltage regardless if I used the + or - side.

I may have the connections backwards but I would assume the lead is for ground and you would touch the tip to the + voltage depending on whether you wanted to measure up to 12v or up to 240v.  The red line at the top of the scale makes me think the screws are for attaching wires to measure current.

Since it does 240v I'd assume it's for AC although the symbol on the right might indicate AC and DC.

No news on the chip order.

It is an "AC" meter which also reads DC. It does not care which way the current flows.

An interesting and handy device if you wanna know the size of a voltage, and are not fussy if it is AC or DC, + or -. Lamps, for example, do not care. OTOH, transistors do, so for this and other reasons this is not an ideal stompbox tool.

Thank you for the reply also.  I got a bunch of parts from a Schober organ and this was in one of the boxes.
