I am building a Valvecaster pedal, and I need 3 pots, one B50K pot, and 2 A100K pots.

I was on small bear electronics and I was going to order these pots:

But before i do, what does the letter mean? The B in the 50K and the A in the 2 100K pots? Does this make a difference in what pots i need to get?

Thank you  :)

For the Valvecaster you want two 100k Audio (A100K) and one 50k Linear (B50K).

The "wrong taper" pot will work electrically.

If the designer specified "Audio" taper, and you use Linear taper, most of the action is jammed-up in the 1-3 range, 5-10 is all about the same. The Audio taper spreads-out the low end of the range for your convenience.

Conversely an Audio taper where a Linear should be, everything below about 4 is about the same as 1. You will mostly be using the 5-10 half of the dial.

So if you are stuck, use the "wrong" taper. But expect it to be real twitchy at one end, the other end not very effective.

the "A" refers to a pot that has a lot of potential

the "B" refers to a pot that got caught smoking in the boy's room
