Vibrato Switch for Bandmaster

I have a old style FS-1 with a 1/4 in plug Can I make it into a RCA ON-Off for my Bandmasters Vibrato. Is tip ground and the shield Hot.I have never tryed to solder a RCA plug

the body of the jack is grounded, by virtue of touching the chassis. but it does not matter, the vibrato turns on when the tip goes to ground, just wire it contact= on.
