How to add a tone control on a ROG May Queen

I have to build a May Queen for a friend, he told me he likes to have a tone control to cut some highs when needed.
I tried the typical tone control found in a lot of pedal - like this one.
So it's a 47nF cap tied between the output before the volume and a 100kB to ground (I also tried a 5kB). It should cut highs that way....
No that doesn't work, it seems like it ain't doin' anything....
Anyone can suggest me how to implement a valid 1 pot tone control to cut some highs in the May Queen?! THX

Hi
that tone control is messy, and the values look wrong to me (could be me).
IMO you'd be better off with a simple 1 pole filter, consisting of a 100k pot in-line (wired as a variable resistor, where the 0.22uF cap is) followed by a 0.001 uF cap to ground, then a 0.1 uF cap to the volume control.  Simple, works.  Same layout as a Rat's filter control.

brett, thx for the reply. Why do you say that it's messy?! I know that's the easiest way to wire a simple high pass filter (the more you turn the pot CCW the more highs go to ground). Fulltone Fat Boost, OCD and a lot of other pedals spot that simple solution. Valvecaster too...Maybe it's just a twist of the components...
.22 µF cap^? Where is that!?
You say to wire pin3 of the pot after the 100n cap, pin2 with a 1n to ground, and a 100n to pin1 going to volume pin3?!

Basically it's the 2.2 nF cap that filter the highs - the higher the value the more highs are filtered.
So how can I wire a pot with a 47n or 100n cap and adjust how much that cap affect and filter the sound?!

I tried to wire a pot and a cap like this...

pin 3 of a 1kA pot to pin 3 and 2 of the trimmer and + side of a 1µ cap to that pin too
pin 2 neg. side of the above cap
pin 1 to Q3 (where the other side of the caps should be)

It works, but there's some tone attenuation even when the pot is maxed...Better ideas?!

Right, sometimes the easiest solution fits...
SWTC with 470r as R1, 22n for the cap and a 50kB pot. No cap at the trimmer. Works very well. Simple, stupid but just what I needed!!!

Glad it worked. The next Mayqueen I make will be a three knob one I think, I really like the original but while the overdrive is really controllable with the guitar volume I think it would be handy to have a gain control and a tone control too
