I'm just saying Champs are commonly built with everything from 6 to 12 inch speakers, and of many different power ratings.  Any dist/od will sound vastly different depending on the speaker you use.  So you'll want to choose an OD that will sound good with the speaker you're using.

I see what your saying.  I have an oportunity to try it out with a 4x12 soon and will probably take my make shift booster along.

Since your using a Valve Jr. like I do, you might look at some of the pedals that have a TMB Tone Stack at the end since you don't have tone controls.

I was looking at something like the Behringer PB100.  It has treble and bass controls.  Have you used anything like that WGTP?  Does your Valve Jr. have the fizzy high end treble when distorting?

Whats the Carmen Ghia tonestack look like?

Has anybody played witht eh eq-dist-eq chain?  The Behringer EQ-700 are $32.  I thought that would be cheap enough to pick up and try.  It sounds like all you would need for the distortion part is an op-amp with diodes in the feedback or to ground.
