I wired up an mxr distortion plus today based on the layout at GGG. My problem is that even when the effect isn't on, I don't get any signal to my amp. I checked my wiring and it all looks solid. Is there a wrong way to solder 3dpt switches? Like, could I have soldered it backwards?

Oh and sometimes the led refuses to turn off.

Theres a wrong way to do anything.

Is your circuit boxed up?
It could be a grounding issue if it is.

Otherwise youve wired your switch incorrectly or maybe even the jacks.
You should get a bypass signal even when your circuit doesn't work.

Do you have a photo of your switch?

Do you have a resistor between your LED and Power Supply?

No, but I could put up a photo really quick if it would help. I flipped it upside down and just wired it exactly like the layout said to. It's not in a case and the LED dims when the effect is off but comes on in full when the effect is on. Yes there is a resistor between them maybe it isn't strong enough.

It is possible to spin the switch and have 50/50 chance that if wired it won't need to be turned, 1/4 turn.
Have the lug eyelets openings toward the front-back of the pedal is how I like to position the switch.
A line of sight can pass through 3 lug eyelets, this a 'set' of Throw Pole Throw [there'd be 3 sets in a 3PDT, or 2 sets in a DoublePoleDoubleThrow.
