I'm looking at the schematic for the Boss SD-1. All the EL caps have two numbers, separated by a /. For example, 1/50, 47/5.3, 100/16, etc.

I've not seen other capacitors listed like this. What do the two different numbers stand for? Is it Capacitor Value/Voltage? I looked over the FAQ and googled it, but no luck.

???

Thanks in advance.

It seems the logical interpretation would be uF/V. microFarads/Volts, so your initial guess was right. Allthough I've yet to see a 5.3 volt cap. Probably 6.3, wich is also a silly choice. They could just use 10 V.

Yes, it could very well be 6.3. This schematic seems to be quite old, and possibly enlarged & reduced several times, and the quality isn't too hot.

Thanks for the help!

Yupp, use 16v for 9v supply, some places in circuits for electrolytics and other components only 'see' some smaller voltage, but since 16v caps are easy to come by, and will hold @9v, it's favorable to just use them.
Convention creates following, following creates convention.
