been tinkering with the pickup sim from jack orman. the one that removes the buffer effect if a non-true bypassed buffered pedal is infront of it. But noticed: with the mod done, the input becomes very microphonic at higher fuzz settings. I'm also getting more noise and hum. The transformer itself is very microphonic. flick it with a finger and you hear a "clunk". I have it mounted upside-down next to the switch, but I don't think this would make a difference?
The switch is noisy too. all this goes away when the trans is removed.
Thought, bad transformer, ordered another, same.
bad switch, nope.
I have the setup going 3pdt sw---> one outer leg of primary---> other outer leg of primary---> circuit (in-cap). which leg of primary doesn't matter, correct?
remaining 4 legs are all snipped off.
Transformer is a 42TMO18 mouser. Jack's article says use a 19 but several people have said the 18 or 19 are usable.
I really love this mod but am stumped on this.
Any ideas?
thanks so much!
