I just put together a DOD Overdrive 250 but I only get a clean sound. Nothing like distortion. I am able to increase and decrease the sound. I didn't make a bypass circuit or hook up a 3pdt switch. I wired everything directly. The tip rings to the input and out and the sleeves to the ground. I connected the negative side of a 9V batter to the ground and the positive side to the positive input on the circuit. Any ideas?

Mark Hammer

yeah.  What are you using for diodes?

I'm using 1N4004. Should I use another kind?

lovric

check how you connected the gain pot.

Mark Hammer

I'll combine Lovric's reply with my own.

When you say "I am able to increase and decrease the sound.", do you mean that both the gain and volume controls work, or that only the volume works?

I am able to adjust both the gain and the volume controls but I only get a clean sound. This the schematic that I used to solder the components. From the schematics I assumed that it was depicting the back of the pot. I also attached the switch. I have to say it does give a clean boost.
