How would you go about getting the clean opening guitar sound, the kick as distortoion when it come in and also the bass when it gets down and dirty.

The opening guitar sounds like 2 flangers. One set for a medium/fast and shallow sweep, the other set for more of a watery chorus sound. The heavy guitar just sounds like a Marshall with a drop-D tuned guitar.
