Hey guys,

Making a Ge FF using the layout @ fuzz central.

Maybe this is a dumb question, but what is that part that says 10K toward the bottom of the layout?
I don't see it anywhere on the schematic.

It doesn't look like any resistor/pot that I have ever seen..

Thanks,

It's called a trim pot. It's a variable resistor. Check these out: http://www.smallbearelec.com/Detail.bok?no=160

What it does is help you bias the transistor. The transistor needs a very certain amount of power to sound best. The trim pot helps you find it without having to try a bunch of very specific value resistors.

JK,

I am aware of trim pots.  Why are there 7 places to solder?  I am guessing since the 3 mains seem to be connected in pairs, that the two sets of 3 are for different sizes of trim pots?

Also,  am I overlooking it in the schematic?

To account for different models of trimpots, correct.

Yeah the holes are just to allow different style, different size of trims to be used. The trim replaces the 8k2 resistor on the schematic and lets you bias the fuzz to suit the transistors you use.

Perrow and slacker,

Thanks for you quick responses and answer to my question.
