Hi guys,

I've recently started etching my own enclosures and I'm really happy how they've turned out.  I "overcooked" one on the weekend and was wondering if I can just put it back in the etchant and etch everything back to flat shiny surface?  Will this work?

Cheers

You have to sand it all back smooth/flat again and re etch...

Can't I let the ferric chloride do the sanding for me or will the current etches just get deeper?

Sanding it would be what I recommend.

I think if you try and etch it again it would just get deeper. Even if you took of the resist, it's already an irregular surface and will get pretty crazy messy.

Thanks for the replies guys.  This one is going to require some elbow grease!

As Mr Miagi would say. "Sand the floor!"

Yeah, not that dated though. My room mate literally threatened a fly with chopsticks today!

Ok, maybe we're getting a bit old, too...

About the enclosure, hope ya didn't etch too deep. You only have so much material to play with. If you get too thin your pedal top could become flimsy. Also, watch the edges!!! If you sand the edges down too far, your top may have good thickness, but you may come close to sanding right into the corner, cutting through the box. Ya may already be aware, but it never hurts to have a reminder.

lol, yes... they can. Forum (text) based misunderstandings always make me think of Meatballs... "Me, Ted... what's your name?"
