Hi all,

I've owned a newer TD for about 4 yrs.

I noticed that the unit started to sound very squishy and bad. It lost some definition whilst playing chords and solos. So I figured the 12AX7 needed replacing. I opened my TD up and to my surprise there is hot glue placed over the tube and the tube base where it inserts. I also noticed that there is a TL072 op-amp in there as well.

I understand the glue was prolly placed to hold the tube still, but I'd think silicone would better cuz if you needed to replace a tube you don't have to melt the hot glue away to free the tube... silicone would just peel away.

Anyway, I was wondering if any of y'all know what could or might be changed to get a different tone outta this box. I'm looking for a warm, thick sustaining tone from it. I know it also has to do with you amps set up and I have my amps dialed in to give me what I want tone wise. But my TD never got me where I'd like it to go, and I had the bias knob added too. Don't get me wrong, it a great pedal, but I feel I need it to be a lil different to get me a tone and feel that I just can't get from it at this point.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks!
