Uglyface w/ LFO Build Help

I am 90% through building an uglyface based on the perfboard layout from andrew_k:



Looking at Tim's v7 schematic (shown below) it look like the protection diode D1 is in the wrong location. The only component it appears to be protecting is C1.
Is there a reason for this or should the diode be wired as shown in Tim's schematic? Thanks in advance.

Looks like a mistake in the layout to me. I would wire it like the schematic.

+1 on layout mistake. Diode should be between the power supply and the circuit.
