Hi,

does the Murder One can use 12AU7 instead of the submini tube 6111 ? Would this require changes ? Till now i've understood that 6111 needs less plate voltage to work correct, right ? (80V..)..

Thanks in advance

I'd also like to know, I'm a complete tube noob. but keen to get going. dont need to save space and subminis would require a bit more finger crossing to get down to NZ.

cheers people who know

You'd be better with a 12AX7 or 12AY7 than a 12AU7 if you don't want to make changes. If you use a 12AU7, you might be needing too much current, but divide the plate resistor by 10, that'd give you roughly 22k, but you'd have to play with this value some. The plate voltage on the schematic is the maximum plate voltage. IIRC the 6111s go up to 180v, it's the pentode at the end that can't go over 100 or so.

so the rest can be pretty much left if you go with a 12ax7? or 12ay7?

You probably wouldn't need any modifications with a 12AX7, you may want to lower the plate resistors for a 12AY7, play with them a little, they're pin for pin replacements.
