Preamp thread: the benefits of active pu's with the tone of passive's

So I was looking at the very well known EMG 81/85 set, and liked many of the benefits to it, especially being able to run long cable lengths and that the pickups are virtually noise free, so I was wondering if it would be possible to make a preamp that could incorporate these benefits, along with being able to add tone and not just cut it, like passive electronics, because I would much rather own a set of Dimarzio's and add this in then a set of EMG's just for the incredible tone of the Dimarzio's.

And who knows, maybe some day down the line I met shell out the 400 dollars for a set of Bareknuckle Nailbombs

try the amz mosfet boost
you could install it if you like it, it'll buffer your signal, as well as being able to boost it a bit,(quite a bit if you want)
i like boosters first in line for these reasons.
also they seem to wake up my tone controlls and make them less dull sounding and more usable to me...
