Well. here it is, my Distortion+ clone on vero.



Messy guts, I know!

I've put in a DPDT switch with 1N4004 diodes on one side, and a red LED on the other side. I have ordered some Germanium diodes from here, will pull out the LED I think and put the Germaniums in there place. I quite like the 1N4004s, I've used them on a couple of different modified pedals in the past.

Following some of the stuff from here: http://www.premierguitar.com/Magazine/Issue/2008/Dec/MXR_Distortion_Plus_Mods.aspx I've added the tone pot. I put a 0.1uf green film capacitor in place of the 0.001uf MKT I originally put in place. I would like to try a 1uf cap there to see what that's like. Would that get me some more treble? Alternatively I'll slap in a TL071, since it seems they create more high end that I can at least roll off with the tone control.

I also changed R2 and C3 to a 1k/.22uf combo. I didn't have any 0.22uf caps so I took two 0.1uf capacitors and placed them in parallel.

Thanks again all for your help. It's been fun building this pedal, even if it's not something that I'll really use a lot. I cannot wait to try the Germaniums though.

I think I'll build the DOD 250 pedal just to see what the differences are like. Is it more of an overdrive pedal than the Distortion+?
