Mid-Range/Time Machine

I was messing with a Boss OS-2 Overdrive/Distortion which has a COLOR control that pans between a mid heavy Tube Sounding Fuzz/SD-1 circuit to a Mid light Rat/DS-1 type Circuit.  Cool Harmonic Mix.  Anyway, it occurs to me that it is sort of time machine in that it pans between the mid heavy '80s Hairmetal tones and later mid notch type tones. 

Thinking further, a general mid-range EQ sort of works that way on guitar tones, and overall mixes as well.
