  I looked and started here:
  http://www.instructables.com/id/DIY-MIDI-Expression-Pedal/

Scourings of internet to find anything beyond "sleeve goes to wiper" which is nice and works, on one side of the LDR=Pot that is.
Can't figure out why only one side of the pot makes a response [I used master volume to guage how well the LDR=Pot system got from: through near zero to full volume. Quite well enough considering the expression options it opens up.
Yupp...was too DIY [or cheep] to just buy [and carry around/find a place on the floor for] another large treadle pedal [I just rewired my no circuit in wah treadly pot assign it to output volume-control the keyboard].
Can report having excellent luck with the keyboard controllers.
And began gathering up LDR's to test with...lol !
*LDR*LDR* to mimic' and = substitue for pot*lugs.
DMM showed an easy 14 or so Kohm across both of them [sorta dark], and ~1k when close in to the light.
Close enough for the testing to begin.
Beginning with no schematic, other than instructible 'excerpt': wiper goes to sleeve [enough said since reversing lugs 1 and 3 is moot and easily done].
Plug it in and blasphemize the rediculous/constant-crossreferencing keyboard manual for hours.
  Working just great, Caveats:
As expected fairly slow leslie [near stopped] resulted [since the LDR's were 'loose in light' at the time and only go to sorta near 0.0 ohms, this perfectly close is deemed a + in function/application, just right for what I want.
Also goes plenty fast, I like the LDR set up, just associated them differently...all open, with medium light...they work just fine [for now], the quartz light 'might' be cheating but the printing color choices on the keyboard didn't have legibility in less than excellent lighting in mind.
One thing that bugs me is only one side of the LDR=Pot works, the other side seems to have no effect except putting literally any resistance on an outside lug, lift the no-influece LDR-'lug, and no more 'new control-effect system function.
That was suitable to satisfy...no-more-play around with schematic-less wiring assignments, restoring wiring to orig.config. [wiper to sleeve, wierd choice but that's what Mr. Instrucoe'd] restored function '.'
So..something is wroght, it just works really well an cool as Exp. controller, leslie speed w/volume control is fine combo, the ldR 'can' be set up to master volume or most anything else.
Convention creates following, following creates convention.
